Work Life Balance

Work–life balance is the term used to describe the balance that an individual needs between time allocated for work and other aspects of life. Areas of life other than work-life can be, but not limited to personal interests, family and social or leisure activities.

The importance of inculcating balance in our  lives is pivotal to our overall physical and mental health. There are resounding effects and  benefits your family enjoys when this practice is consistently engaged; as those with whom we share a familial bond and responsibility to ( spouses, children, parents), become recipients of a well rounded and balanced family life. Prioritizing what’s important and what is not is a key component in achieving work-life balance, we encourage you to make a list and stick to it:

  • Urgent and important
  • Important but not urgent
  • Urgent but not important
  • Neither urgent nor important

Your career is central to providing for you and the needs of your family, after all you’ve worked hard to achieve and maintain  the career path you’ve chosen. Having an employer who values and recognizes the importance of work-life balance is a win win situation for both parties. Many companies assist their employees in achieving this balance by instituting policies and procedures that enable employees to readily pursue more balanced lives. Employers can assist employees to experience work-life balance by offering opportunities such as flexible work schedules, paid time off and company sponsored events and activities

They foster a work environment in which work-life balance is expected, enabled, and supported. They retain outstanding employees to whom work-life balance is important—like parents.
